I thought about going into town today to get a movie or something, but Carl's been gone for a while and Sarah was gone for a while....which means there was no third vehicle and it's too long of a walk for me.. lol. It's about 12 miles to the nearest video store so picking up a movie has to be planned. Plus with gas so high, silly little trips are being cut back on. What I didn't think about though... since Sarah & Carl were out, why didn't I just suggest they stop off and pick on up? It was a duh kind of moment.
Our Thanksgiving was really nice. Sarah made a turkey breast & Kelly cooked the ham and made a couple of pies (Pumpkin & Chocolate). I was told that on that day I didn't have to a thing except relax. Nice concept, however, side dishes are a nice addition to meat & pies.. lol. So I made some mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans and rolls. While I was peeling the potatoes, Kelly asked me, "Mom, why are we making potatoes like this?" I asked her what she meant and she told me we usually microwave them. Thinking she was talking about baked potatoes, I said that I liked mine mashed sometimes. She said... "no.. I mean, why didn't we use the instant kind? You never peel potatoes, so why are you doing it today?" Busted. Anyhow, everything turned out delicious and we didn't miss the instant potatoes at all.
Normally, I only do instant potatoes too... Except when doing stews. The kids have caught me at this also. Normally, when I do real potatoes, the kids want them riced, which would be fine, except that is alot of hard work, even for someone strong lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Thanksgiving. And thanks for the comment. I am sure one day it will be funny... but now, it still breaks my heart. Mostly because I started to get snippier and snipper at the kids the more things went wrong.
