I had to smack myself to get back in here and blog some more. Geez louise I tell ya this month has flown by. I kept thinking, I'll get to it, I'll get to it... and I didn't.
So I guess I'll start off with the earthquake news of today and work my way backwards. Sarah woke me up at 4:30ish and told me the wind was blowing really strong. So bad it was shaking her room something awful. She went and laid down on the couch and I asked Carl if he heard anything, but he didn't. So we went back to sleep. He called at 7:30 and was telling me an earthquake had hit in Illinois and that's what was shaking Sarah. I couldn't believe it.. no way. We're at least 100 miles from St. Louis, how could we feel that. Apparently, it came up from under the ground and really shook/swayed the end of the house that Sarah's room is on. It settled the house so much, that after 12 years of settling (normal settling) things that were a little stiff (like doors) were shutting easy. It had righted all the wrong things... WEIRD and so scary. But she said she was really hanging on to her bed just to stay in it.... she said it stopped and then started again. The poor kid has been scared all day and she hasn't left my side hardly.
As if earthquakes aren't enough, the last few weeks have had some scary days filled with tornados/storms. We've been so blessed that they've missed our area (not by far) so far. I have to say though... at least with most tornados or storms you have some kind of warning (even if it's just minutes) that it's coming. This earthquake thing is for the birds though.. lol.
This has been an awesome TV week.. lol. On my two favorite shows, Big Brother & Survivor, they voted out the people I wanted gone. It's about time they listened to me (through the tv). It's fun when you see that happen... sorry people, but enough is enough.
I think we've all been sick here this past month. Each girl took their turn at it and then I shared in their joy which is my current position right now. I think I hacked out the upper tip of my right lung last Thursday. The coughing is driving me crazy, but it does feel like there's an end in sight and I feel so much better today than 3 days ago.
We had to go to a funeral this month. My moms sister passed away. Many years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced that and won. Then she had brain cancer and they removed the tumor (I think I have this right) and she was "okay" but not herself anymore. Several years have passed and she's been doing fine, but a few months ago, she was told that the cancer had spread into her liver. She lived for another 6 weeks or so and then finally passed away on the 7th of this month. My mom has 9 siblings. This was the 3rd sister to pass away. The first one (my aunt Lucille), lived in Georgia and we couldn't attend the funeral. The second one (my aunt Betty) donated her body to science and I don't remember a memorial service. I feel terrible, but I can't remember anything during that time for some reason.
The girls had a pretty good time while they were in Branson, with the exception of their day at Silver Dollar City. They were rained out...well, to be more exact rained on. They were there for 3 hours and soaked wet when they left. The church they went with (not ours) was super and treated them amazingly. They took them to see (their treat) a Branson show (Pierce Arrow) and then they all went out to eat at Playtime Pizza and managed to get in some mini golf, go-carting & shopping while in town. So even though they didn't get to do the weekend in SDC, they had so much fun.
Guess that's just about it. That's all I can remember anyhow.. lol.
