da-da-da-da-da ... She's lovin it. The guy before her...maybe not so much.

My youngest daughter has now joined the ranks of the working class.  McDonald's had a national hiring day on the 19th and she applied and was hired.  The man doing the hiring told her she has a really nice smile and looked like someone fun to be around.  True, true.  She's so excited and looking forward to her first day of work. :)  It's hard to watch your kids grow up though, but it's a joyful moment too because that means you're teaching them right.  And McDonald's isn't much, but it's close to home and a paycheck for a teen... nothing wrong with that.

I have to share the story of the applicant before her though.  I saw him from the car (I rode along because she has her permit) and she saw him while waiting for turn.  So this boy (about 16-17yo) was in the interview and so was his dad.  They both sat in on his interview.  When it was over, the boy jumped up and headed for the door (no handshake, nothing) but the dad was still talking with the guy.  The boy did come back and waited until they were done and then they left.  It was so awkward looking and the boy looked slightly embarrassed.  Of course, I don't know the story behind the scene, but  if he was hired, they would have to do it in a callback, because he didn't come out with a new employee packet.

Do people really go with their kids on job interviews?  Because I'm thinking...if you have to come with him/her to get the job, they're going to need you to come with them to do the job.  No way/No how/Next.
