Blessings on a Cold Day

Our furnace stopped working the other night.  It was on, then it was off... then it was on... and then it was off.  It went off that night at 3am and we used our small infrared heater to warm the living room.  Carl and I went on to bed (even though it was his time to get up to go to work, I asked him to stay home) and slept in a very chilly room.

So the following morning, we got up and started calling some friends for recommendations. The first thing I heard was a local repairman who I figured was overly expensive, but he did come recommended.  I figured, let's give it a try. I was also worried that we wouldn't be able to get them to come out that day because of all the snow (10 inches overnight) to fix it.  But I felt so blessed when I heard, "Sure, we'll be there in an hour."

He was true to his word and made it out here.  It didn't take long to repair the furnace, praise God that it was repairable and then he was gone.  We had heat again... and it felt wonderful.  It's amazing how I take so many things for granted on a day to day basis.

After he left, I realized how very blessed I was on that cold day.  I have a home for shelter, family to care about, friends to call for recommendations and a wonderfully beautiful world to live in.

I do appreciate the awesome blessings that were realized on that cold day.
