Storm Update...

It came.  It saw.  It conquored.

Monday, January 31st , it started with some sleet and a little bit of freezing rain.  Thank the Lord we didn't get a lot of it with the snow that was to come.  Tuesday morning, it was time for Carl to go to work and it wasn't doing anything outside.  He really wanted to go in, but the weatherman and the local sheriff said "Wherever you are at noon, plan to be there for 24 hours because travel will be impossible."

No truer words were spoken.  By noon it was a mess.  By 4pm, the interstate and highway was shut down. The next day, businesses, factories, banks and government offices were closed up tight.  It was a mess.  Carl was home for two days and I'm glad he was...4 wheel drives couldn't get through this stuff so I know our car would have been stuck where it was.

I took some pictures the next day.  The blizzard of 2011 was impressive... and I hope I never see another until I'm at least 70 years old.

This is what we were looking at.  I marked our city in black in the very center.

And this is what the end result was...
Out our backdoor.

after we shovelled a pathway to my moms we took the dog for a walk on it.  no real reason for the leash, she wasn't going anywhere...

yeah....
so I can't imagine being a pioneer, travelling through snow this high...
there is a road behind the highest pile of snow in the background

i think it made for some beautiful pictures

and confirmed the fact that a shovel does indeed fit my hand.  who knew?

we also made the worst weather and world hot spot on accuweather.

What a day.
