What's that smell?

So... today starts off with a phone call from mom, she was having furnace problems.  She called our local hvac guy and asked him to come look at it.  He came and said he thought it had to do with a bad coupling, but he didn't have his license anymore and for her to call the heat/ac company in town.  Well, after we talked on the phone, I went over to be with her for a few and she tried turning on the stove.  That's when she realized she was out of propane.  Since 95, she's never ran out before.  We called the guy who came out back and told him what happened, cancelled the call to the heat/ac company and then called the gas company.  They said they'd let him know and he'd be out in just a while.

So mom comes over to our house for lunch and we're talking when the phone rings.  The gas delivery guy is on the phone and he said "I'm sorry you ran out of propane."  I told him that things like that happen.  His answer..."Yeah, and it's going to be happening more because I have to pick up in X (town that's about 60 miles from here) and I don't have time for full deliveries."  ? Excuse me ?
1.  That's not my problem.
2.  Do you know how bad that sounds?

I don't know what the deal was, but we looked back at the records and he hadn't been here since before Thanksgiving.  He ended up putting 400 gallons in her tank and it's still 100 gallons below full.  She's using about 150-200 gallons a month, so I hope he makes it back before mid-February.

After he filled her tank up and relit the pilot lights, we went into the house and whooo hooo, the smell of gas was enough to knock you over.  So she came back over to the house while we let it air out.  Thirty minutes later...she was good to go and all was well for the rest of the evening.
