So....it's been a while since I posted.

Life has really been busy around here, but pretty much the good kind of busy now.  The whole month of November & most of December I was sick.  I don't know what caused it, but it was one little thing after another and it just wouldn't stay away.  Thank goodness it finally has left (knocking softly on wood).

We had a good Thanksgiving and Christmas.  My sister Sandy surprised us at Christmas and came to visit mom because the weather was nice.  So it was good to see them.  The girls enjoyed their presents, but it's getting so hard to shop for them now.  Sarah's favorite & most wanted gift was a digital camera (it takes amazing pictures for a low priced Kodak).   Kelly's favorite and most wanted gift was Guitar Hero for her Nintendo DS.  LOL, then she spent the rest of the day complaining about cramps in her fingers... you think?

The new year came and went pretty quickly.  We watched the ball drop on tv.  Sarah had been thinking about going to NY to be there in person on New Years Eve.  Until she read that the public bathrooms and most restaurants close early and there really isn't any way to use the bathoom (other than Depends).  Apparently, they put people in stalls (100 to each one) and if you step out to find a bathroom or whatever, you forfeit your place.  Doesn't even matter if that place is 50 blocks away from the ball (not overexaggerating), too bad so sad.

Mom moved in with us.  Things are going well there, but it has taken some getting used to.  Not her, but just having another adult in the house.  With the girls grown, this house doesn't seem as big as it did when we looked at it 14 years ago.   But it's okay and fun most days.

We did have some bad news, well, it's a good news bad news thing.  The place Carl works, cut one day out of their work schedule.  So basically it's almost a weeks worth of pay lost each month.   It's nice to have him home, but... and I know that's a small problem compared to what some are going through,  so we just smile and know there's a reason for everything. :)

Ohh, I know something neat to share!  Our local grocery store is sponsoring something new.  It's like the biggest loser, but instead of getting thin, it focuses on living well.  It's called Working On Wellness and is also sponsored by our county health nurse.   Each week, we set goals (individual) and work on attaining them.  Basically focusing on the small steps that lead to permanent behavior.  The person who's made the most improvement and lost the most body mass will win a $500 grocery store gift certificate.  So Carl, Sarah, Dh's brother & I teamed up to join in.  If we win, we get a $250 gc.  But through it all, we get specialized help and each other's encouragement.    So I'm sure I'll be posting some things on here about that as it goes along.

Soon.
