July Wrap Up

Well, I can't believe we're already into the month of August.  Time is seriously flying. When we first started Weight Watchers, it seemed the days just inched by.  But here we are 8 weeks later and I thought I'd update as a close to the month.

This month I lost 10.2lbs and Carl lost 7.6lbs.  All in all, I think that's pretty good.  I started out the month with a post about eating out at a few restaurants.  This month, we ate only at Subway, with the exception of eating pizza twice.  Once I blogged about the ridiculousness of it, but the other time I didn't share.  We went to Cici's Pizza one day....it's like this permanent pizza buffet with some really good food.  All I can say is that was a bust and we don't intend to go back (lesson learned).  I kept track of my points and wrote it down, but Carl didn't even really care much.  That is until he realized how bad he felt afterwards.  We have finally come to the conclusion that the heavier in fat the food is, the worse we feel in general (and sleepy!!).  So... a couple of stumbles, but we kept on going.  I still am trying to cut out eating at Subway, but it's a safe choice and if I can choose to eat there, I'm not looking elsewhere.

The 4th of July came and went... we stayed home.  The day before though a friend invited him to a bbq.   He invited both of us, but I was a total chicken and afraid I would screw up my weightloss for the week, so I bowed out.  Carl went and I was glad he got to visit a bit.  The next week was his family reunion, I wasn't feeling well though and didn't go. Looking forward to next year though.  Carl said he did really well in making choices that day and I'm so happy for him.  You know how hard it is to choose food that's better for you vs all the good stuff that everyone makes.  The only other big thing in July was our oldest daughter moved in with a friend and out of our house.  It was hard, but she's doing well.

On the exercise front, we joined the YMCA.  The first time we went to work out, we almost left.  We didn't go back for quite a while, but eventually we did....but we went to their annex.  Our Y has a second location that's unmanned and no one under 18 is allowed to come.  So when we tried it out and found only a handful of people there and none of them children or teenagers, we both knew we'd be coming back.  And we have... since then we've worked out more often than not.  And that's when I posted about being able to go the distance... if only for a little while.

I cannot wait to see what September1st looks like compared to where I am now.

Listen to the mustn't, child,
listen to the don'ts,
listen to the shouldn'ts,
the impossibles, the won'ts,
listen to the never haves,
then listen close to me -
anything can happen, child.
Anything can be.
