The Fight

Someone snapped our picture the other day!  We fought.  It was vicious.  He won.  Convo in Walmart went like this:

Me:  What size jeans are you buying?
Carl: 36
Me:  You can't wear 36's.  You better get a 38.  That's what we have at home.
Carl:  Uh, yes I can.
Me:  No.  Seriously you can't.  But just go ahead and get both (time crunch) and you can bring back the pair that doesn't fit.
Carl: Want me to try them on?
Me: (smug)  Sure... go ahead
Carl:  (comes out of room) Hey
Me:  Those the 38's?
Carl:  No!
Me:  We'll I be they're too tight.  Turn around (bossy much)
Carl:  (turns / smirks)
Kathie:  Fine.  You're right.

I am so proud of him.  His 40's were getting really tight when we started working this life. Good job dearest!

Just a post.

Well, it's almost time to leave for work.  I thought I'd post really quick and say that I'm going to print my little picture from yesterday off and post it in front of my face.  It's kind of hard to commit to memory if you can't remember what it is from the fog of FAST FOOD.  I need to stop this crap.  We ate out twice yesterday.  Once I could see because were weren't coming home until five pm, but last night at 8... just because the teen wanted it and offered to buy, really?  It was subway granted, but I think I'm almost done with that food too... it gives me a stomach pain the next day.  Maybe it's the entire 12 inches of bread that I'm shoveling in my mouth?

Try try again I guess.  No eating out today.  Dinner is crock-potted, lunch is packed and breakfast was good.  Wanna see it?

I hadn't had cereal in a long time and thought that it would be a nice change this morning.  So 3/4c of cereal, 1 piece of reduced cal bread, pb2 (love that stuff), a banana, and a 1/2 cup milk equals out to 6 points.  Seems like so much more.

It's an early day, so off to work I go and today WILL be a successful day. :)

So in need...

I'm so in need of self-control lately.  Well at least part of the time anyhow.  I swing wild like a roller coaster some days.  I found out one little thing that's tripping me up severely... I've brought sweets back in the house.  It's for the kid you see.  Not for me.  She needs to eat something.  She'll eat these and I won't.  LIES.  ALL LIES.  For whatever reason, I've convinced myself she needs sweets... uh, why?  And she's 18... quite capable of helping herself to a healthier choice.  What a dork I am.  So I need to commit this poster to memory... challenge of the week for me.

The weekend has went rather well.  Hubster and I hit some garage sales Saturday morning and then a second hand store.  I found a crapton of work out VHS (Leslie Sanson Walk Away the Pounds new in package) for 1.00 each.  And we still have our old dvd/vhs combo player, so woot!  I did the WAtP 1 mile Express yesterday and that was so easy and fun.  I also picked up a Billy Blanks Tae Bo Basics... haven't tried that puppy out yet.  Scared to.. Hahahah. :)   Eating wasn't too bad.  Wasn't spectacular, but again, the challenge I have this week is commit the thoughts in black above to memory.

Thought I'd take a picture of my breakfast meals this week.  Just for fun.  So... here we go.
I found some blueberries on sale for 1.99 this week and thought that sounded great with bananas on waffles and a glass of milk to boot.  Woohoo it was good.  Total Points Plus: 9

Excuse Me?

Finding excuses is what I've done best over the last six months.  Want to hear some of them?  Let's see..
  • The fruit doesn't taste fresh
  • I'm too tired from working at my new job.
  • I am trying, it's not working.
  • Cooking takes too much time.
  • Chub rub hurts too much.
  • I'm on my period.
  • I just don't want to do this right now.
  • Too many things going on.
  • Nothing's going on and it feels good, let's be lazy.
  • Let's go out to dinner, who needs to exercise.
  • I'm too tired to get up early, I just need more sleep.

         and my personal favorite...
  • blah, blahblah, blah - blah.
Now, let's try this again, but instead of excuses, let me count the ways...
  • Exercising with my husband is fun.  We should do that at least four times this week.
  • Tracking food isn't hard when I take my tracker with me.
  • Dinner is prepared and in the freezer, I just need to thaw it out and toss it in the crockpot.
  • Fruits and veggies are back in season!  Let's Eat!
  • I am tired in the morning, let me look back and see what kind of foods I'm eating.  Maybe the high sugar/aspartame content has something to do with it.  I should cut most of that out.
  • I'll try to drink a couple of bottles of water at work each day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and go for a quick 5 minute walk if I feel tired instead of going for the caffeine boost.
  • Let's grill tomorrow!
  • Chub rub does hurt whether I work out or not.  Working out will just get rid of it faster!
  • I will try and it will work.  Sixty lost pounds says it does.

        and my personal favorite...
  • ah, ah, ah, ah...staying alive, staying alive.

Till tomorrow.

Dumbfounded!!!

I know I planned to blog once a week, but I failed.  Eh.

So today, just had to share that we went for a walk on a local walking trail and I made it through 2 miles.  In an  hour.  Blew me away.  Totally surprised me.  Kinda sucked through the rest of the evening, but two miles... I walked two miles.  Whoda thunk it?

Photo Update...

We finally got around to taking some pictures.  I think the bathroom mirror lies, because I'm not seeing this smaller face when I look into it. This is such a strange thing to me...this losing weight.  I've tried in the past to make it work, but gave up within 10-20 lbs... and now I'm at 45lbs down and still encouraged to go on.  I know hard times will come, but I just don't want to give up.

Signed,
Rambling me.

P.S.  A body shot is also included on the photo page.

Surprise. Surprise. Surprise.

One of the ladies that I work with brought by a surprise today.  She found a coat at a garage sale and left it with me.  She said if it fits, great.  If not, that's okay too.  It was a 3x...I just knew it wouldn't fit.  I put it on and it buttoned up completely with no strain at all.  WHAT WHAT?

So when I got home, I searched it out online and turns out it's a $60 coat (on sale) and it's new enough that the extra buttons were still attached to the sleeve.  What a great gift and what an awesome surprise in more ways than one.

Wanna see the coat? :) >> Here it is << And oh yeah, another great thing about this... I was just getting ready to buy one and I hate coat shopping.

Wow. Just...wow.

Seriously, wow.  I heard the strangest words come from someone's mouth today.  It wasn't that I didn't appreciate them, but I had to wonder what the speaker was thinking.. lol.

He said "are you losing weight?  You look so tiny."  ?  I'm thinking, you really need your eyes checked.   I did ask him if he needed some money. He hadn't been to church in a while and I guess the weightloss is starting to really show through.

And I wasn't the only one who was noticed... Carl wore a shirt that said "My chains are loose" and one of our friends commented that they're even looser now.
Fun times, but it's kind of strange.

On a whole other separate note, today's my birthday.  It was the first time in 42 years that I didn't have a birthday cake.  Guess what... that in itself was a fantastic, successful feeling. Happy Birthday to me.

I Didn't Even Mind

It's been crazy busy around here.  Life is good and going on, praise God.  I had to stop and add this post today because for the first time in just about forever, I found myself in a photo and I wasn't embarassed.  It's not a fantastic photo, but I'm in it...and again... I don't care.  To me, that is one of the craziest things ever.   This feeling is so weird and I know it sounds dumb, but I had to share the thought.

In case you're wondering, I'm the one in the upper right hand side.  No, not the one with the cowboy hat. :)

Blinders On... Keep Moving...

Never truer words spoken than those above!  I'm going to come clean about something here and even though I don't want to, I'm going to face it down, admit it and move on.

We went to the grocery store tonight (after our workout) and  picked up groceries for the coming week.  All was good throughout the fruit & veg section and into the main aisles of the store.  But as we were coming to the end of our trip, we had to get some milk.  The milk is next to the donuts, cookies, pies, cakes, chips, and dip.  Wonderful product placement, thanks.  I really appreciate it.  *eye roll*

There was a moment tonight though, where I lingered to long, thinking just a "what if" thought while picking up the milk.  What if I just have one slice of cake to take home with me?  What if we just get one package of cookies, they're on sale?  What if we get Doritos this week instead of pretzels?  What if we just grab some donuts for tomorrow?  It'll be a treat.  And then I thought - What if you stop with these stupid thoughts and keep walking?   So I did.

When we were on our way home (hubster went too), I decided to confess my thoughts to him.  He admitted that he was feeling the same way.  I was so happy to hear that because it means that I'm not a total loser and we both have weak moments.  But in our weak moments, we didn't give up.  And because we didn't give up on ourselves, we didn't sabotage the other one.  That in itself is just an amazing moment on this path.

I'm not gloating or bragging about tonight, but I am rejoicing loudly because for the first time in my life, I used discipline on myself.  And it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would.  But now I wonder in what other ways I can put it to use.

Really? Cause I'm not understanding this...

I'm so irritated with myself and all I want to do is make ugly faces and scream.   Won't really serve a purpose though, so I'll just type this out.

Tonight, it was just me and the Mr. here at home.  Everyone else is gone and seldom does it work out that way.  So we're sitting here and boom, I get this stupid idea.  I didn't want to tell him because I was worried he'd say yes, but I did want to tell him because I hoped he'd say yes. I told him, that pizza sounded really good for dinner.

Now what the heck was I thinking?  I don't even like pizza and it wasn't even that good! So here I sit, ticked off, not feeling good because it was greasy tasting and an old habit snuck right in like nobody's business.  The old habit of "since we're alone, let's make it easy and order out" has got to go. I don't like the feeling of eating too much/eating bad food.  I just don't feel well after doing it.  And Carl passed out on the couch at 8pm... he hasn't done that a long time.

On the upside, we've been at this for 7 weeks, but things like this can lead to our weightloss demise.  It's like one step forward and one step to the side and I don't want to move that way.   I don't want to sabotage our work, so I am really going to have to work on this.  I have to put the blinders on and keep moving.

Headaches & Sluggishness

Wow, let me just say I feel like a slug today.  All that food/sugar from yesterday did me in.  I was walking through Wal-Mart last night when I told Carl that I had a headache.  I never even noticed that I didn't have one for three weeks.  It was such a strange feeling to go through again.  Does sugar/Chinese food actually bring on things like that?  I'm going to have to google and find out.  I've felt too good to feel this way all over again.
